Aarau

Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a landlocked Alpine country in Central Europe. The country, which borders Germany to the north, France to the west, Italy to the south, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east, was historically a confederation, and has been a federation since 1848. Switzerland is a federation of relatively autonomous cantons, some of which have a history of confederacy that goes back more than 700 years, arguably putting them among the world's oldest surviving republics. With an area of 41,285 square kilometers, Switzerland is a relatively small country. Switzerland comprises three basic topographical areas namely the Swiss Alps, the Swiss plateau, and the Jura Mountains. Switzerland has four official languages namely German, French, Italian and Romansh.

Aarau is the capital of the Swiss canton of Aargau. It has predominantly German-speaking and Protestant inhabitants. Aarau is situated in the valley of the Aar, on the river's right bank, and at the southern foot of the Jura Mountains. It was founded in 1250 Anno Domini, AD. It was the temporary capital of the Helvetic Republic. The population of the city of Aarau is 15649 and has a total surface area of 8.94 square kilometers.

An ancient fortress, Aarau was taken by the Bernese in 1415, and in 1798 became for six months, from March to September, the capital of the Helvetic Republic. Its overall manufacture includes bells, mathematical instruments, electrical goods, shoes, and other products. A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Aarau is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
