Lancy

Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a landlocked Alpine country in Central Europe. It had been a federation, since 1848, of relatively autonomous cantons, some of which have a history of confederacy that goes back more than 700 years, arguably putting them among the world's oldest surviving republics. Switzerland comprises three basic topographical areas namely the Swiss Alps, the Swiss plateau, and the Jura Mountains. Switzerland has four official languages, German in the north and centre, French to the west, Italian in the south and Romansh in the southeast. Switzerland has a strong economy in finance and banking, and a long and strong tradition of political and military neutrality.

Lancy is a commune of the Canton of Geneva, the westernmost canton or state of Switzerland, its surrounded on almost all sides by France and centered around the city of Geneva, Switzerland. It is subdivided into two main suburbs, Petit-Lancy and Grand-Lancy. As of 2005, Lancy had a population of 27,010 residents living within an area of 4.82 square kilometers. It is situated at an altitude of 307 meters above sea level.
