Vernier is a commune in the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland. The Canton of Geneva is the westernmost canton or state of Switzerland, surrounded on almost all sides by France and centered on the city of Geneva. The official name of this canton is Republique et Canton de Geneve. The city of Vernier has an area of 7.68 square kilometers with a population of about 31,096 as of December 2004. Vernier is one of the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destinations that are located in the Canton of Geneva in Switzerland.
