UMC Deploys Nexus8620 Roaming Test System

UMC, the 100 % subsidiary of the OJSC 'Mobile TeleSystems' (NYSE: MBT), the leading operator of mobile communication in Ukraine, has signed an agreement with Swiss-based Nexus Telecom for the delivery of a Nexus8620 fully automated roaming test system to ensure service quality for their GSM and GPRS mobile services.

Zurich, Switzerland (PRWEB) September 12, 2005 -- Ukrainian Mobile Communication (UMC) has chosen Nexus8620 Roaming Test System to automate testing of their Mobile Network Services for UMC and visiting customers.

"UMC invested in a Quality Mobile Network and now will deploy the Nexus8620 test system to further ensure that subscribers benefit from highest mobile services quality," says Vladimir P. Pashchuk, Deputy Director General and Technical Director at UMC. The Nexus8620 Test System generates automated test calls using real Mobile Network Provider SIM cards from all roaming partners to confirm that GSM, GPRS and MMS services are fully available to pre-paid customers as well as monthly subscribers.

"The Nexus8620 Roaming Test System connects directly to UMC's core network to generate test calls, avoiding the waste of precious radio resources. From a single central location the system is able to schedule and perform test campaigns for remote MSCs and SGSNs, enabling a significant reduction in test times," says Christoph Kupper, Marketing Director at Nexus Telecom.

The Nexus8620 Roaming Test System offers further benefits such as conformance and interworking testing of switch software updates before the mobile switch is released back into network operation.
