Langenthal 1

Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a landlocked Alpine country in Central Europe. It had been a federation, since 1848, of relatively autonomous cantons, some of which have a history of confederacy that goes back more than 700 years, arguably putting them among the world's oldest surviving republics. Switzerland comprises three basic topographical areas namely the Swiss Alps, the Swiss plateau, and the Jura Mountains. Switzerland has four official languages, German in the north and centre, French to the west, Italian in the south and Romansh in the southeast. Switzerland has a strong economy in finance and banking, and a long and strong tradition of political and military neutrality.

Langenthal is a city in the Swiss Canton of Berne, the second largest of all Swiss cantons. It borders the Canton of Jura and the Canton of Solothurn to the north, the Canton of Neuchatel, the Canton of Fribourg and Vaud to the west, the Valais to the south and the cantons of Uri, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Lucerne and Aargau to the east. It had a population of 14,278 inhabitants living within an area of 14.40 square kilometers, as of 2004.

Noted industries in Langenthal include the construction of vehicles and machine, Ammann, as well as porcelain and textile manufacturing, Lantal Textiles and Creation Baumann. Langenthal is an educational, cultural, and economical center for the region of Oberaargau. It is situated at an altitude of 481 meters above sea level.
