Visp 1

Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a landlocked Alpine country in Central Europe. The country, which borders Germany to the north, France to the west, Italy to the south, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east, was historically a confederation, and has been a federation since 1848. Switzerland is a federation of relatively autonomous cantons, some of which have a history of confederacy that goes back more than 700 years, arguably putting them among the world's oldest surviving republics. With an area of 41,285 square kilometres, Switzerland is a relatively small country. Switzerland comprises three basic topographical areas namely the Swiss Alps, the Swiss plateau, and the Jura mountains. Switzerland has four official languages namely German, French, Italian and Romansh.

Visp is a municipality in the Canton of Valais in Switzerland and the seat of the district of Visp. Its population is around 7,000. The two valleys are Mattertal and Saastal. It borders with Brig-Gils. The majority of the population is German-speaking. Its chemical industry is named LONZA AG. In 2003, Visp population was 6624, total area is 13.22 square kilometers.

In 2007, Visp will become a junction of the Neue Eisenbahn-Alpentransversale or NEAT, connecting with the Basel-Bern-Lotschberg-Domodossola-Mailand line. The bus and the train station of Visp and Brig serve as the starting point for many outdoor activities, trips, and tours in the surrounding mountain resorts Zermatt and Saas-Fee.

It can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
