Bern Historical Museum: In the Swiss Capital

Bern, besides being the capital of Switzerland, it is a very important city of diplomats and home of several institutions and organizations of world interest. The city is one of the oldest in Europe and also one of the most beautiful. It was founded in the 12th century and declared by the United Nations World Cultural Landmark in 1983. The city is also a reference point for all the tourists who are going to the Alps or the numerous lakes that you can find in this country.

The city is a nice tourist destination where you can admire the old architecture which is combined with the modern; it is a place of contrasts. There are many different things you can see and many places you can visit in this city, but without a doubt, one of the most interesting ones is the Bern Historical Museum.

Inside the museum, some of the things that you can see are one of the biggest collections of tapestries, which was acquired during the years 1476 and 1477; this collection represents the life of Julius Cesar. There are arms and armors, old treasures of old churches among many other historical and very interesting objects.

The museum is located in Helvetiaplatz 5 and is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is inside an old castle built in the 16th century. If you visit Bern, do not miss this chance and come to the Bern Historical Museum to learn a little bit more of the history of a culture different from yours.
